The results are in for the Protection Innovation Award! Congratulations to the 2022 winners for showcasing excellence in innovation through the use of Nomex® and Kevlar® fibers for hand and arm protection, and redefining the standards for performance and comfort in worker protection.
The market for protective equipment solutions has evolved. And so has our recognition program.
In the past, DuPont recognized Kevlar® brand licensees for their innovative new applications for Kevlar® in hand and arm protection solutions. As of 2022, this program is now called the Protection Innovation Award which recognizes the innovative use of not just Kevlar®, but also Nomex® yarns and fibers in personal protective solutions for hands and arms.
Now, brand licensees can showcase differentiated new products in their portfolios, positioning their companies as a leading supplier of revolutionary personal protection equipment.
This new product is designed to deal with the most rigorous and dangerous applications faced by today’s fire-fighters. It has a unique combination of Nomex® and Kevlar® materials to provide outstanding levels of protection and comfort. The palm material is engineered with a double face Nomex® and Kevlar® knit with a silicone carbon coating offering excellent abrasion resistance and grip. The knuckles are protected using Nomex® with Seiz® heat absorber and the wrist area is enhanced using a Kevlar® knitted cuff with pulse protection. A Kevlar® liner with PTFE membrane offers premium cut resistance (Level E according to EN 388). In addition, the glove conforms to EN 659, performance requirements for firefighter gloves, and offers EN 407 Level 4 for burning resistance.

Equipped with an innovative and unique heating system, developed in collaboration with Kevlar® engineers and Kevlar® fiber, the latest Furygan heated gloves offer a new experience for motorcyclists. At the core of the glove, the Kevlar® fiber captures and spreads heat throughout the entire surface of the glove with a touch of carbon present in the weave as a smart conductor. This energy is captured in a glove made of leather and softshell material, designed to retain heat as close as possible to the skin, delaying humidity and protecting the hands in case of a hard blow. Three-layer laminated material provides water repellency and is impermeable to wind and water, without compromising on comfort. The back of the hand and palm offer extra protection to meet the demands of cold weather driving without affecting dexterity.

This glove made with Kevlar® Essential engineered yarn offers an excellent balance of contact heat protection (Level 2 according to EN407 at 250° C) and the highest cut level (Level F according to EN388) while delivering enhanced comfort and dexterity. Its outer shell is constructed with a new innovative yarn from the Kevlar® Essential engineered yarns portfolio, enabling reliable and affordable mechanical and contact heat protection, combined with a 100% natural cotton liner. The glove is also offered in an extended cuff version (ROKXB-10) for applications requiring extended wrist and arm protection.
It guarantees improved user comfort without the risk of skin irritations even after long-term use at increased temperatures given its breathability and seamless design.

The shirt is a lightweight knit of over 60% Kevlar®, which not only provides protection against cuts, but also protection against heat. The shirt provides a high level of comfort for the wearer whilst maintaining breathability and top-grade protective properties.
The ‘clean’ lint-free 15-gauge sleeves do not leave any traces on objects, and provide protection against mechanical and thermal hazards. Machine knitted using Kevlar® filament yarn, the exceptionally lightweight sleeves offer high levels of comfort and breathability.
Offering new levels of comfort at cut level D, the gloves integrate the manufacturer’s AIRtech® platform, delivering 360 degrees of breathability, along with its DURAtech® coating that provides 18,000 abrasive cycles per millimeter. All of which provide wearers with a high-performing glove that offers both comfort and durability.
The Needle glove ensures dexterity for the wearer while also delivering reliable protection for palms and fingertips alike. The outer shell features 100% knitted black Kevlar®; and the inner layer features a fine-knit glove made from cut-resistant HDPE yarn with a palm coating made from polyurethane (PU). A special feature of the glove is its sting protection insert for the palm of the hand, to protect against injection needles. The glove has been tested to EN 388 and pinprick protection to ANSI/ISEA 105-2016 Level 4.
Delivering the highest cut protection levels, this lightweight 18-gauge glove meets EN388-2016 cut level F performance. Kevlar® is an integral part of the design, combined with steel-core fibers in a composite blend material to achieve high protection without sacrificing dexterity and comfort.
